Harrison Grierson Wins Silver at Best Awards

October 2014

The awards highlight the most creative and cutting edge designs made in New Zealand over the past year and include a range of categories and an impressive line-up of influential designs.

Our Silver Award was in the Graphics - Large Brand Category.

Designers' Institute of New Zealand CEO Cathy Veninga said the 2014 awards distinguish the value that great design has.

"The wide scope and high quality designs that have won this year reflect the creative power of the New Zealand design industry. With the rise of export design, we're competing with the best work in the world, and holding our own internationally."

HG’s marketing manager, Karen West, is delighted that our stunning new image has been recognised by the Designers Institute.

“The reality is that it’s so much more than just a new company image.  Our new visual identity, with its new logo, colours, typography, imagery and graphics, makes a very public statement that we’ve transformed our company and that we’ve begun the next stage of our evolution.”

Mrs West said over the last two years, nearly every aspect of Harrison Grierson had been re-engineered.

“We started this journey back in 2012 after a major review revealed quite a gap between how our audiences saw us, how we saw ourselves and how we want to be seen.  So, to change the way we’re perceived, we had to change the way we do things. Our branding strategy was the vehicle for change.  It’s meant far more than just a new look.  It’s changed how we communicate and the way we do business.”

Mrs West said every item with a logo had been replaced with the new image.  That included stationery, signage on our buildings and vehicles, HG clothing, documentation and a new website.

She said the colours of the new visual identity reflect Harrison Grierson.

“The green represents our fresh approach. The greys represent our strength and determination. The bold, simple type represents our belief as client champions, that where there’s a will there’s a way.”

The new visual identity had been created in association with Principals Branding Limited.
