Auckland International Airport Ltd
As the lead designer we’re progressing and implementing the vision of the overarching landscape masterplan for a new 120 hectare warehousing and logistics precinct.
Approx. $40 million to date
The Landing development is a new large-scale warehousing and logistics precinct located between public open space to the north and a proposed extension of the Auckland Airport Activities Zone to the south. The Landing provides world-class facilities set amongst a stunning landscaped environment.
As the lead designer on the project, our role is to progress and implement the vision for the landscape masterplan, prepared by San Francisco-based Surfacedesign, Inc.
Our team is providing specialist civil, infrastructure and landscape design expertise on the progressive stages of the precinct development.
Based on the masterplan concepts our landscape design covers the planning and design of public green spaces, reconstruction of a wetland to a terraced feature pond, and shared pedestrian/cycle networks.
The Landing’s design features and materials draw on the surrounding environment and previous land use to create a distinctive and high amenity setting. A mix of over 350,000 native and non-native plants reinforces the vision of the Airport landscape as a blend of native and cultural landscapes, and creates a clear roading hierarchy for primary and secondary roads.
Engineering and infrastructure design includes new drainage and water supply reticulation, new roads, earthworks, building platforms, and a stormwater pond system that achieves hydraulic neutrality using low impact stormwater technology.
We're also providing ongoing contract maintenance project management and observation.
Together, Auckland International Airport and our design team are dedicated to progressing the masterplan into a benchmark business precinct for the Airport.
