Board & Management




The Board of Directors of Harrison Grierson has the duty to govern the activities of the Group and provide guidance and advice to the Company’s New Zealand and Australian Management Committees. Governance focuses on the realisation of strategy, risk management, robust financial reporting and legal and regulatory compliance.  


Meet our Board Members

Gary Clark - Chairman     Gary Clark, Chairman. 
Gary was appointed to the Board in 2001 and to the role of Chairman in 2009.  He has over 30 years experience in land surveying, specialising in cadastral surveying, subdivision of land and buildings and project management.  Gary was appointed to the Cadastral Surveyors Licensing Board of NZ at its inception in 2002 and his current tenure ends in 2010.  He is also a member of the Board of the Land Professionals Mutual Society.
 
Alastair Kent-Johnston - Managing Director   Alastair Kent-Johnston, Managing Director.
Alastair was appointed to the Board in 1985 and to the role of Managing Director in 1994. He has over 35 years experience in the project management, master planning, design and construction administration of a wide range of infrastructure, land development and sports and tourism related projects in New Zealand and the South Pacific. He is Chairman and Managing Director of our Australian Company and is the Sector Leader for Land and Buildings – Sports and Leisure.
 
Colin Cranfield - Director   Colin Cranfield, Director.
Colin was appointed to the Board in 1989 and has spent 30 years in the strategic planning and design of infrastructure projects across the utilities and tourism sectors in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific.  The last 20 years have been spent specialising in municipal and industrial water and wastewater engineering. Colin is the Sector Leader for Water and the Environment.  Colin is also a current member of the Association of Consulting Engineers NZ, Water Sector Committee.
 
  Andrew Collins, Director. 
Andrew was appointed to the Board in 2005. Andrew has over 20 years of planning and resource management experience and he provides strategic, policy and development advice to a wide range of governmental organisations and developer and network utility clients throughout the country.  Andrew is the Sector Leader for Health and Education and Transport - Maritime. Andrew chairs the Company's Sustainability Advisory Group that he helped establish in 2008.
 
  John Tik, Director.
John was appointed to the Board in 2003 and has over 30 years experience in land development and civil infrastructure engineering.  He has extensive expertise in the planning, design and implementation of major land development projects across New Zealand.  John has played an important role in the technical development of the Land and Buildings Sector and actively manages relationships with many governmental organisations and corporate clients.  John is the Sector Leader for Land and Buildings – Residential.
 
  Mike Benning, Director.
Mike joined Harrison Grierson in 2000 and was appointed to the Board in 2005.  He has 25 years experience in the planning, design and implementation of major property and transport projects. Mike works closely with many Australasian corporates with large property portfolios on both sides of the Tasman.  Mike is the Sector Leader for Land and Buildings – Commercial/Industrial and Transport – Rail and Airports.  Mike also chairs the Company’s Health and Safety Committee.
 
  Glen Cornelius, Director.
Glen was appointed to the Board in 2008 and has over 15 years experience in the leadership of major projects in telecommunications and infrastructure.  Glen has played an important role in the technical development of the Land and Buildings Sector and is a close advisor to many technology companies and governmental organisations.  Glen is the Sector Leader for Telecommunications throughout the company.  He provides support to the Institution of Professional Engineers NZ in the areas of professional membership assessments.
 
  Fiona Guy - General Manager and Company Secretary.
Fiona joined the Company in 1995 and has more than 25 years experience working with various Boards and Committees in the consulting, finance and accounting sectors.  In her current role, Fiona works closely with the Managing Director to lead the operations of the Company and is responsible for the Corporate Services team including finance, knowledge and information services and human resources.
 
  Steve Crow, Senior Principal.
Steve is a qualified Town Planner with over 20 years experience in strategic and statutory planning throughout both Australia and New Zealand.  Steve manages the Company’s operations in Queensland and is the principal co-ordinator of State and Local Government Planning Services.  As Senior Principal and a Director of the Australian Company, Steve brings strong leadership and proven project management skills to a wide variety of multi-disciplinary projects along the eastern seaboard of Australia.

 
Management


The Board has established a management committee for the New Zealand operation to support the Managing Director in delivering the respective strategic plan, annual business plans and major corporate projects. The Management Committee meets monthly under the chairmanship of the Managing Director. 

The Board of the Australian Company fulfils a similar function to the New Zealand Management Committee and reports to an overall Harrison Grierson Group Board.
