Wastewater

Wastewater management systems that serve communities efficiently while returning treated wastewater to the environment with minimal effect are necessary outcomes for a sustainable world. Harrison Grierson engineers work closely with all project stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet the needs of the current and future generations.

Wastewater treatment employs wastewater management strategies including all aspects of liquid and solids processing, as well as effluent disposal for both municipal and industrial clients. Services include master plans, feasibility studies, pilot plant studies, conceptual design, final design, construction management, startup and training, operations troubleshooting, and process and energy optimization. Key aspects of effluent disposal are reuse opportunities, as well as water quality issues with respect to nutrient requirements.

Harrison Grierson process engineers conduct extensive process design; process optimization and troubleshooting; preliminary and final design for primary, secondary and tertiary treatment; ultraviolet (UV) disinfection; aerobic and anaerobic digestion; nutrient removal; and odour/air emissions control. We work in a multidisciplinary environment where wastewater management is approached in comprehensive and innovative ways.

To plan for wastewater network extension or improvement projects, a variety of services are provided by our engineers such as master planning, route selection and sewer design, consent applications, sewer overflow control technologies, rehabilitation programmes. Advanced design tools such as geographical information systems (GIS) and computer modelling are used to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of each wastewater management project.
