OCTOBER 2010

Hobsonville Point, the master planned community that forms part of the substantial redevelopment of the Hobsonville Peninsula will ultimately provide over 3000 homes, a marine industry precinct, cafes, shops, schools, reserves and a ferry terminal in the northern region of Auckland.

The first stage of the development, the Buckley Precinct, was planned and designed by Harrison Grierson. Creative urban design will ensure there are plenty of opportunities for residents to meet and mix with their neighbours casually.  All homes will be within walking distance of well-designed public spaces with recreational and community facilities - playing fields, tennis and basketball courts, schools, cafes and shops.

Overall the development will offer, higher-density housing with apartments, terrace type housing and detached homes necessary to cater for Auckland's growth within limited land space.  Environmentally-focussed low impact infrastructure, including new approaches to transport, energy, stormwater management and high speed broadband fibre will be provided to all home and work places throughout the community.  Ultimately, spatial design celebrates the unique historical and natural features of this special waterfront site.

Construction of first stage homes began in September and occupation by homeowners is expected to begin early 2011.
