Harrison Grierson’s Director of Planning, Andrew Collins, was recently appointed to the Board of “Towns and Cities New Zealand” (TCNZ). TCNZ is a national association for organisations seeking to promote the sustainable development of town and city centres (including the promotion of thriving economies and attractive, sustainable town and city centre environments). Members include town and city centre landowners, town and city centre organisations, local authorities and representatives of the Property Council and similar organisations.
Andrew states that he is “pleased to be involved with Towns and Cities New Zealand, working alongside other energetic and enthusiastic people to help make our urban areas (particularly their central commercial cores) more vibrant and exciting”.
Andrew also notes that “Harrison Grierson has been involved in one way or another in the development of many of the country's towns and cities. We act for landowners, developers, commercial tenants, local authorities, government agencies, infrastructure companies and a range of other clients as well. It's through this diversity of urban experience that Harrison Grierson is best able to contribute to the goals and objectives of Towns and Cities New Zealand and its individual members”.
As a TCNZ Board member, Andrew intends to coordinate Harrison Grierson’s advisors and designers in the areas of planning, urban design, landscape architecture, engineering, surveying and property development to assist TCNZ and its members in practical ways. Already, some of the company’s senior urban designers have been invited to present at the TCNZ Conference in Wellington in August 2010.
