Rugby Union on artificial turf, whoever would have thought that would happen?

Harrison Grierson has recently completed the planning and design of two sporting venues that include artificial turf, specifically designed for rugby and football sports codes. The venues are at Te Whaea sports venue at Newtown, Wellington which has recently been endorsed by the All Blacks in a recent training session (see video clip) and at Parrs Park sports venue in Waitakere, Auckland.

The Auckland Council believes that the opening of Parrs Park as the region's first artificial turf for rugby and football will come as welcome relief for many frustrated players and coaches whose playing schedules were badly disrupted by last winter's dismal weather. The all weather surface can more than adequately cope with high levels of usage and many different sporting codes and will take pressure off some of the local, surrounding natural playing surfaces.

The venues and Te Whaea and Parrs Park are new developments in artifcial turf and have been innovatively designed by Harrison Grierson to the the demanding standards of the IRB and FIFA.
