Harrison Grierson Releases its Sustainability Report 2010
back to Making a Difference
MAY 2011

Alastair Kent-Johnston, Harrison Grierson's Managing Director, is pleased to announce the release of Harrison Grierson Group's 2010 Sustainability Report. This is the third year in a row that Harrison Grierson has prepared such a report and we have again used the internationally recognised Global Reporting Intiative (GRI) framework for its preparation.

This report has been the result of the collective effort of numerous individuals, led by our Sustainability Advisory Group. The 2010 report shows that Harrison Grierson has been successful in maintaining the momentum of 2008 and 2009 in terms of ongoing and new sustainability intiatives. While our carbon footprint per "full time equivalent" (FTE) employee marginally increased in 2010, our carbon footprint considerably reduced in absolute terms (total tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions). During 2010, the Company introduced new vehicle fleet policies whereby excellent fuel efficiency and reduced carbon dioxide emissions are key criteria to be met for all new and replacement vehicles. As a result, the Company's vehicle fleet is being transformed, for Directors, Principals and staff alike.

The 2010 Sustainability Report profiles several projects undertaken for clients during 2010 that feature sound sustainability principles - as well as being founded on practical common sense and financial cost-effectiveness. At Harrison Grierson, we clearly recognise that these facets are not mutually exclusive at all. We strive to recommend practical yet innovative solutions which can support our clients' sustainability and financial goals.
