Harrison Grierson apologises for role in abandoned Harington Street Transport Hub project

Harrison Grierson has today reached a confidential settlement with the Tauranga City Council in relation to the abandoned Harington Street Transport Hub project.

Harrison Grierson was the structural designer for the Harington Street Transport Hub project. The firm has accepted that there were issues with the building’s seismic design which meant it was cost prohibitive in 2020 to strengthen the partially built structure.

Harrison Grierson apologises to the Council and the ratepayers of Tauranga for the design issues and the substantial related costs that the Council has incurred.

Harrison Grierson has a strong history in engineering design, and we have continued to deliver high quality projects for our clients. The issues identified were specific to this project and do not reflect the depth of our expertise and the standard of service we set ourselves.

We have a proud history of working in the Bay of Plenty with over 70 years of delivery. We look forward to rebuilding the trust and confidence of Council, so we can support this city’s growth into the future.
