'Me tiaki te whenua, ka tōnui te tangata.'
'It is through the protection and care of the land that the people will flourish and thrive.'
At Harrison Grierson we’re on a journey to grow our understanding of Te Ao Māori perspectives. It is our goal to be a Tiriti o Waitangi honouring organisation to ensure we give life to the articles within everything that we do.
Already underpinning our business is our strong commitment to care for the land, water and people to ensure its safety for generations to come. This is expressed in our desire to build sustainable communities that will last many lifetimes, and to build communities that are connected to their natural environment.
We have a commitment to work alongside mana whenua and involve them in decisions about our future developments and facilitate their right to engagement at both local and regional levels.
We are actively educating ourselves on Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are beginning our journey towards authentic and meaningful integration of te reo and tikanga Māori into all that we do. It is also a goal of ours to launch a programme which will help us recruit Māori and Pasifika youth into HG.
We look forward to a future where it’s business as usual for all of HG to understand and align with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
