Our continued commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Harrison Grierson joined other Diversity Agenda Accord signatories at a summit at Parliament recently to korero about our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the engineering and architecture industry in New Zealand.
Our Talent Business Partner, Ben Greenhaf, says as a founding member of the Accord, we’ve firmly got DEI on the agenda at HG.
‘’Globally, we’re seeing stalling progress (or even reversing) in the diversity, equity and inclusion space. I’m proud of the work we’re doing as an industry to hold the line with a steady commitment to keep us moving in the right direction,’’ says Ben.
At the summit, members reflected on the results of a recent annual survey of Diversity Agenda members on DEI in their organisations which saw Harrison Grierson with a zero per cent gender pay equity gap for a second year in a row.
Our commitment extends to our recent sponsorship of South Pacific Professional Engineering Excellence (or SPPEEx) and the network group Pride Pledge, as well as applying a diversity and inclusion lens across every stage of our employee lifecycle.
''Our aim is to identify and remove any biases that could exist during recruitment, promotion, work allocation, performance and remuneration processes, and we’re committed to doing this,'' says Ben.
SPPEEx works to increase the participation of Māori and Pasifika professionals in our industry, and we’re proud to be one of only five organisations chosen to work with, alongside BECA, Fletchers, Tonkin & Taylor, and Watercare.
Over 300 organisations have joined Pride Pledge to demonstrate dedication to the safety, visibility, and inclusion of the rainbow communities of our workforce and communities.
