Supporting the work Tapuika Iwi Authority Trust do at the Rangiuru Business Park wetland
At Harrison Grierson, we believe that hopeful futures are created through the actions we take today. As 2025 draws to a close, we’re reflecting on the values that guide us—partnership, purpose, and care for the world we help shape.
This year, in the spirit of giving, we’re proud to support Aotearoa New Zealand’s shared future by making a Christmas donation to the Tapuika Iwi Authority Trust. This contribution will help fund its vital conservation work to enhance biodiversity throughout its rohe in the Bay of Plenty, including in New Zealand’s largest constructed wetland, located at the Rangiuru Business Park.
We’re also proud to count Quayside Holdings who developed Rangiuru Business Park, as valued clients. Their vision and commitment to sustainable regional development align closely with our own values, and it’s a privilege to support their journey.
Supporting regeneration at Rangiuru
The Tapuika Iwi Authority Trust is leading a powerful environmental restoration initiative, focused on enhancing water quality and restoring native ecosystems. Its work includes:
Wetland development to improve water quality and create thriving habitats
Native forest regeneration through the control of browsing pests (possums, deer, pigs, goats) and avian predators (rats, stoats)
Ongoing monitoring and maintenance of wetland and forest ecosystems
Thanks to these efforts, native species are returning to the area. Birds such as kōkako, tūī, kererū, and Toū Toū are being spotted once again, alongside native fauna like the longfin eel (tuna) and a variety of invertebrates. Regenerating plant life includes mānuka, kānuka, tī kōuka, tītoki, putaputawētā, and canopy species like tōtara, mataī, southern rātā, and kahikatea.
These projects are deeply rooted in Tapuika’s environmental values—pou taiao and kaitiakitanga—reflecting a shared responsibility to protect and restore the mauri (life force) of our whenua (land) and wai (water). By supporting this kaupapa, we’re helping to uphold an intergenerational commitment to care for the environment as a taonga (treasure) for future generations.
A shared commitment
This donation is made on behalf of our clients, whose partnership enables us to contribute meaningfully to the communities and environments we serve. It’s a reflection of our collective impact and a reminder that meaningful change begins with care and commitment—values we carry into everything we do.
