Allan Robertson

Structures Manager - Christchurch & Wellington

A Brit turned Kiwi, Allan heads up HG’s Christchurch and Wellington structural teams.

His background includes over 17 years in the UK providing structural and civil engineering solutions for local authorities, educational institutions, airports and private developers.

One project Allan is proud to have worked on is at his alma mater, the University of Aberdeen's Rowett Institute for Nutrition and Health building. He oversaw the structural design and the construction stage for the new laboratory and research facility, located in the heart of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s campus.

Since moving to Aotearoa, New Zealand in the summer of 2016 and settling in Christchurch, he’s been heavily involved in earthquake inspection, strengthening and repair works, but now spends the majority of his working life providing structural solutions to the residential and commercial sectors for the city (and beyond).

Allan finds his role at HG a real breath of fresh air. “It’s fun and super friendly here compared to the UK, and it can certainly be a challenging working environment at times. But I wouldn’t go back now.”

It seems the Kiwi outdoor vibe has really started to rub off on him too. He's developed a taste for tramping in the bush, skiing, and even become a keen rugby fan.
