Technical Director - Land Development

Johan is a seasoned Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with 20 years of experience, delivering innovative infrastructure and land development solutions in New Zealand and globally.

Based in Tauranga, Johan has spent the last eight years leading complex projects in the Bay of Plenty and Auckland, specialising in stormwater management, land development, and construction oversight.

Johan says he loves the industry for its ability to directly improve communities. “Building infrastructure that supports growth while balancing environmental demands is incredibly rewarding.”

His goal is to deliver sustainable, innovative projects that leave a lasting positive impact on the Bay of Plenty while mentoring the next generation of engineers.

Johan’s leadership style is collaborative and clear, breaking down complex problems to empower his team while keeping projects on track financially and technically. “I believe in open communication and aligning everyone toward a shared goal.''

Johan values Harrison Grierson’s community-focused roots, which align perfectly with his passion for local impact.

Memorable projects include Summerset by the Dunes, a multi-stage retirement village, and East Quarter Medium Density Residential Development, which blended technical precision with community needs and required a streamlined approach to complex challenges. “These projects stand out for their complexity and the teamwork that made them succeed''.

Outside work, Johan is a family man who relishes New Zealand’s outdoors, enjoying hiking, golfing, and recently taking up padel.
